The first Christmas market in the world was held in Austria in 1294, and in the following years it spread to a number of Christian countries. Over the centuries, the idea of a market has spread throughout the world, including non-Christian countries.
Today the most beautiful and big markets can be found in the European countries that are considered to be their motherland.
This year Ejmiatsin joined the list of the cities with New Year and Christmas market.
The opening of the market and the nativity scene was accompanied by a concert program by Zangak and Vagharshapat groups.
Every day for a month, residents and guests of the city will find New Year and Christmas symbols, festieve decorations, souvenirs, various sweet dried fruits, hot wine and other interesting and festive items in 18 unique and festive pavilions of the market situated in the park next to the Municipality.
The festive photo pavilion completes the festive atmosphere of the area.
The market will be open until January 13.
