Today, The Mayor of Vagharshapat Community Diana Gasparyan welcomed the newly-
converted champions of the 37th World Military Wrestling Championship, Gaspar Terteryan

and Suren Aghajanian. They were accompanied by their personal coaches, Simon Karapetyan
and Zhora Vardanyan.
The athletes are currently serving in mandatory military service and participated in the World
Championship as part of the Armenian Armed Forces team, winning gold medals in their
respective weight classes.
Prior to their service, both wrestlers had already become champions at the World and
European Junior Wrestling Championships.
In recognition of their continuous representation of our community and country with such
honor, they were awarded the "Community Mayor’s Medal." Their personal coaches were also
recognized with certificates of appreciation for their contributions.
