The Mayor of Vagharshapat Community Diana Gasparyan met with the Ambassador of
the Argentine Republic to Armenia, Rafael Enrique Gonzalez Aleman, and the Honorary
Consul of Armenia in Cordoba, Juan Carlos Merdinyan.
The main topic of the meeting was the establishment of sister city collaborations
between Echmiadzin and Cordoba.
Welcoming the guests, Ms. Diana Gasparyan spoke about the selection of sister cities
and existing collaborations. “We are currently pursuing a policy to expand the
geography of sister cities and place significant importance on the similarities between
cities. Cordoba is known as the 'City of Bells,' due to its churches and culture. The
active participation of the Armenian community could greatly contribute to the
successful collaborations between the two cities,” noted the Mayor of Vagharshapat
Community.
Mr. Rafael Aleman spoke about the significant role Armenians have played in the
history of Argentina, emphasizing that the two countries have always maintained
friendly relations, which could be further strengthened through collaborations between
the two cities. The Honorary Consul of Armenia in Cordoba, Juan Carlos Merdinyan,
thanked both parties for their efforts and commitment in fostering collaborations and
friendship, and outlined the next steps in the collaborations and friendship agreement.
