Diana Gasparyan, the head of the community, received Patrik Svensson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia.
The visit was informative for the ambassador. This was his first official meeting with the head of the community.
During the meeting, the opportunities to expand the ways of cooperation, to use the potential of the Armenian community in the Kingdom of Sweden, and the prospects of developing programs were discussed. The importance and possible results of the participation of the schools of our community in the "School-community" cooperation program facilitated by the Swedish organization "Salar International" were touched upon.
The Head of the Community presented to the Ambassador the works and changes made in the city during her term of office, talked about the vision of the city's development, the ways to solve the existing problems, and the plans to be expected.
Ms. Diana Gasparyan was also interested in the Swedish experience of centralized management: urban design, efficient creation of the transport network and management systems.
Mr. Patrick Svenson, thanking for the reception, emphasized that Ejmiatsin is a wonderful place for the implementation of programs, because, in addition to being the spiritual centre of Armenia, it has great tourist potential and a favorable geographical location.
"The fact that Ejmiatsin is the spiritual centre of Armenia and one of the main tourist destinations can be an incentive for the establishment of direct cooperation between the community and Sweden," the Ambassador noted.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador presented the Head of the Community with a voluminous picture book about Stockholm, the capital of the Kingdom of Sweden.
