Ejmiatsin has been recognized as the most active sport city of 2018 by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The Ministry summed up the mass sports events held in 2018 with an awarding ceremony. The drastic ones were the results of the festival held on September 18, in which 43 urban, 5 rural communities of the Republic of Armenia and Stepanakert city of the Republic of Artsakh were participating. Ejmiatsin participated in the festival with 11 sports and about 1000 sportsmen. As a result, Ejmiatsin was recognized as the city to organize the annual sports festival in the best way for which the city received the first prize set by the Ministry. Mayor Diana Gasparyan received the winner's cup and the certificate from Gabriel Ghazaryan, Acting Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
