The 110th anniversary of national artist of Armenia was celebrated at Mher Abeghyan museum, Ejmiatsin branch of National Gallery. Mayor of Ejmiatsin Diana Gasparyan, the families of the painters from Ejmiatsin, the permanent visitors of the museum and students of Art school were invited.
Mher Abeghyan’s illustrations based on Hovhannes Tumanyan’s ՛՛Akhtamar՛՛ poem were exhibited on the occasion of the day.
A conversation-lecture on the topic ՛՛Mher-Lusik՛՛ followed the excursion, during which Manushak Hovhannisyan, director of the museum, presented interesting and exceptional information about the Abeghyans.
Decorative colourfulness is typical to Mher Abeghyan. Silence and spiritual peace prevail in his landscapes, his still life paintings are bright.
During his lifetime Abeghyan often visited the museum and had a talk with the visitors. Abeghyan’s easel is kept here, which is often used also by the pupils of Ejmiatsin Fine Art school when painting at the museum. The directorate of the museum also preserves another tradition of the Abeghyans: serving of the traditional birthday pakhlava.
