Events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Komitas Vardapet are organized in various cultural institutions of Ejmiatsin. Perhaps the most large-scale event of the jubilee year took place on September 25, on the eve of the anniversary of Komitas in the courtyard of the Culture House.
Wide-ranging concert-performance was fraught with the stirring emotions of Vardapet and his works of bringing new spring to the Armenians.
A number of city song and dance groups united to celebrate Vardapet's anniversary in their own way. They presented the audience in the language of art the important episodes of Komitas' life - starting from his birth to the madness and death.
With his unwavering faith in God, the Church and the Motherland, Komitas purified and armenianized our song, being sure that our century-old identity is in the song that comes from the hearts and souls of the people. The scenario of the concert-performance was based on the idea of conveying this conviction of Vardapet to the audience.
Mayor Diana Gasparyan, MPs Argishti Mekhakyan and Narek Mkrtchyan, culture lovers were present at the event.
